Have you ever given a thought
to the technicalities of the sport?
If not, well then I think that you ought.
Do you realise that spin
is a difficult thing,
yet without it your chances are nought?
Making it turn
is something you learn,
and can lead to a batsman out caught.
Bowling with speed
– sometimes what you need,
for when battle is there to be fought.
A bouncer fired down
makes the batter dive around
and often much havoc is wrought.
A seamer bowls near
and makes the ball veer,
as inswing and outswing they’re taught.
But a mix of all these
will be sure to please,
when ten wickets to win are what’s sought.
So, technicality matters a lot,
believe it or not,
if your performance is to match what you thought.
